KERATOMETER MEASURING TECHNIQUE Focusing the Eyepiece Before taking a measurement, the eyepiece should be focused. By holding a white surface before the objective (or rotating the cover, if it is white, down in front of the objective) and looking through the eyepiece a cross-hair will be seen. The eyepiece should be rotated counter-clockwise until the cross-hair blurs, then rotated back clockwise until the cross-hair just comes into focus. If different clinicans use the keratometer this should be done each time it is used. If the same person uses it all the time the focus only needs checked periodically.
